I should have went out but looking at the dusting of snow we recieved discouraged me. My service group has a few people pioneering this month too so I'll probably hear about it tomorrow at the meeting. It does feel good to lounge about and get some reading in. Sweatpants, tee shirt, lounging at home is definitely better than being dressed up driving around in the cold leaving meh-morial invitations with people that will only discard the tract in the rubbish. I prefer this waste of time to that waste of time, and gas, and paper, etc..

People like one of the commentors on that article, Mary Kochan, are reason enough why I'd find it highly unlikely for myself to join a church after getting away from JWs. Plenty of arrogant, pious, self-proclaimed knowledgeable, and snotty people of various denominations to go around. Is it me, or does it seem like religious women are more likely to be stuck on their high horse than men?

I think there is some legitamacy to this theory, I am the literature servant in our hall and we have been back ordered on Reference Bibles and the Black and Red Deluxe Bibles for about 8 months now. All we have are some of the crappy paper bibles and a few hardcovers. Maybe because they aren't printing them and are instead waiting for the release of this NNWT.

Interesting, I've been trying to get a new Bible from the back for a while. I have a reference bible on order and the servant has apologized to me a couple times even though I wasn't pressing him. I just need a new Bible. We don't even have any of the paper back Bibles at our congregation. He told me those were on backorder too.

Why did the organization stop providing food during conventions?

i'm sure many of us still remember these times when the organization used to sell food at conventions.. i also remember that when this was stopped, the official reason was that the "brothers" were missing some of the program because of all the preparations.

typical watchtower "pretend we care" excuse.. i've wondered if there is another reason behind it, tied to perhaps finances or logistics that was the real deciding factor.

history and typical "modus operandi" of the society tells me that if there was some money to be made that way, they would not have stopped.. wonder if anybody has more info on this..

Stopped providing food?!?!?!? Seriously? There's more food than ever at the conventions but it's not the physical kind you want. Rather it's the spiritual kind you need. Happy are those especially conscious of their need for the food dispensed at the conventions.
